Good Friday

For God so Loved the World

He who was without sin made the ultimate sacrifice, Christ gave up His life and died on the cross for our sins. He died so that we might have life and have it more abundantly. By His blood we are cleansed and our sins are washed away. On this Good Friday let us reflect on the sacrifice that Christ made for us. It is the greatest sacrifice of all. He did what no one else would do for us.

A Peaceful and Holy Good Friday

Sinful though we are, God loved us enough to send his only son to die on a cross for our sins. May you all have a peaceful and Holy Good Friday. Let us never forget the sacrifice that Christ made by dying on a cross for our sins.

Good Friday

He came and lived among men and died for our sins.

jesus on the cross

On this another Good Friday we commemorate the death of Jesus on the cross. For God so loved the world that He sent us His only son.  Jesus came and lived among men.  He made the deaf to hear and the blind He made to see.  To the crippled man He said “Take up your bed and walk. He healed the sick, He raised the dead and He turned water into wine.  But more than that, much more than that, He died for our sins.

In the Garden of Gethsemane Judas betrayed Him.  Just as He prophesied Peter denied Him thrice.   When asked by Pilate whom should he release Jesus or Barabbas, the crowd said ” Release to us Barabbas and when he asked them what he should do with Jesus, they shouted “Crucify Him.”   Let us not forget how much He suffered; let us not forget His pain.

We are reminded of his suffering in this song, O Sacred Head Surrounded.   The lyrics were translated from the text of St. Bernard of Clairvaux  by Henry Williams Baker.

O Sacred Head, surrounded
by crown of piercing thorn!
O bleeding Head, so wounded,
reviled and put to scorn!
Our sins have marred the glory
of Thy most Holy Face,
yet angel hosts adore Thee
and tremble as they gaze

I see Thy strength and vigor
all fading in the strife,
and death with cruel rigor,
bereaving Thee of life;
O agony and dying!
O love to sinners free!
Jesus, all grace supplying,
O turn Thy face on me.

In this Thy bitter passion,
Good Shepherd, think of me
with Thy most sweet compassion,
unworthy though I be:
beneath Thy cross abiding
for ever would I rest,
in Thy dear love confiding,
and with Thy presence blest.

But death too is my ending;
In that dread hour of need,
My friendless cause befriending,
Lord, to my rescue speed:
Thyself, O Jesus, trace me,
Right passage to the grave,
And from Thy cross embrace me,
With arms outstretched to save.

Good Friday

Tomorrow many Christians around the world will celebrate  Good Friday in remembrance of how Jesus Christ came down from Heaven to earth and died on the cross for our sins in order that we all can have everlasting life if we serve him and live according to his commandments.  One of the things that Jesus taught during his time on earth was ‘Love’.   Loving ourselves and loving one another.  Love is so much lacking in the world today and it is part of the reason that there is so much violence, so much killings, so much disregard for human life.  People kill one another as if it is no big deal; having no understanding of what it is to love.  Where there is love there is understanding, there is forgiveness, there is the desire to protect the ones you love.  Where there is no love the exact opposite happens.  Unless we have love for one another there will never truly be peace in this world.  Jesus taught about love and forgiveness.  How many of us live by those rules?  He who was without sin loved us so much that he gave his life for us.  Can we love one another enough so we can stop killing each other?   Let this be a time to reflect;  to give thanks to God for sending his son to die on the cross for us.  Let us make the changes necessary in our lives and start loving one another.  A blessed Good Friday to everyone.
